Facebook has become just another part of getting the story in newsrooms across America.

I have searched for — and studied — the pages of dozens of people (both victims and the accused) for a handful of prominent news organizations in the past few years.

However, as the practice of integrating social networks into the journalistic routine, the question every reporter must ask becomes more apparent and pronounced: What should the role of this technology be in our day-to-day responsibilities?

A new journey

Welcome to my new blog, Jamie Explains it All.

I created this Web site as an outlet to share thoughts and ideas.

I already have two blogs: One to discuss technology for the Hearst Connecticut newspaper group and one that focuses on the news industry and interactive communications for one of my graduate school classes at Quinnipiac University.  I encourage you to check them both out, if you haven’t already.

If executed successfully, this site will be a conversation-starter.  News, views and information will ideally flow back and forth between us.  Nothing will be off limits.

I hope you join in the conversation.
