Several people called the police after seeing unidentified flying objects high above Greenwich.
There were as many as 40 individual bright lights streaking across the night sky Saturday, the Greenwich Time reported.
Greenwich Police told the Time that the lights were “genuine oriental sky lanterns” legally set off at a birthday party.
However, the police account did not convince all of the witnesses.
One Greenwich resident told the town’s paper of record the objects were moving far too quickly to be simply a few lanterns.
